A packaging machine is not ready simply because it has been assembled. Before entering production, its performance, safety, and ability to meet the customer’s specific requirements must be thoroughly verified.
For this reason, FAT and SAT are two essential stages in every Zambelli Packaging project.
What is a FAT?
FAT stands for Factory Acceptance Test. It is carried out at the Zambelli Packaging facility before the machine is shipped.
During the test, the following aspects are verified:
- overall machine operation;
- production performance;
- required formats and configurations;
- packaging quality;
- control and safety systems.
When required, the customer takes part in the testing process alongside Zambelli Packaging technicians, observing the machine in operation and verifying the results before delivery.
Why is the FAT important?
The FAT makes it possible to identify any necessary adjustments or optimizations before the machine is shipped.
This results in:
- fewer risks during installation;
- lower unexpected costs;
- higher quality of the final result;
- faster start-up;
- better operator preparation.
Making adjustments before delivery is simpler and more effective than resolving an issue after the machine has already been installed.
What is a SAT?
SAT stands for Site Acceptance Test. It is carried out at the customer’s facility after installation.
Its purpose is to verify that the machine operates correctly within the actual production environment and is properly integrated with:
- upstream and downstream machines;
- conveyor systems;
- electrical and pneumatic systems;
- supervisory systems;
- products and packaging materials.
The SAT therefore confirms that the solution is ready for production start-up.
FAT and SAT: What is the difference?
The FAT is carried out at Zambelli Packaging before shipment.
The SAT is carried out at the customer’s facility after installation.
The first verifies the machine in a controlled environment. The second confirms that it operates correctly and is fully integrated into the production line.
Testing means building reliability
For Zambelli Packaging, FAT and SAT are not simply final inspections. They are an integral part of every project.
These tests help reduce risks, protect the customer’s investment, and ensure the delivery of a reliable, safe machine that is ready for production.
Testing for Excellence: because an effective start-up begins long before delivery.
